Nakki Lake - Mount Abu

The lake is in length of about a half mile and in width about of a quarter of mile and 20 to 30 ft. deep towards the dam on the west. It is an important tourist attraction of Mount Abu.

There is the Toad Rock on a hill near the lake. Toad rock is so called as it looks like a toad about to jump into the lake, from the side of the rock facing the lake. There are two ways to go up and down the rock; to climb the rocky hill side or to use the steps leading down to Nakki Lake.

Nakki Lake is another popular visitor attraction of Mount Abu. There is the Toad Rock on a hill near the lake. Raghunath Temple and Maharaja Jaipur Palace are also on hills near Nakki Lake.

Boating in the lake and horse rides around the lake are available.

Mount Abu Hill Station

The town of Mount Abu, the only hill station in Rajasthan, is located at an elevation of 1,220 m (4,003 ft). It has been a popular retreat from the heat of Rajasthan and neighboring Gujarat for centuries.

Mount Abu is home to a number of Jain temples. The Dilwara Temples are a complex of temples, carved of white marble.

The Achalgarh fort, built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar, stands nearby. It encloses several Jain temples, including the Achaleswar Mahadev Temple and the Kantinath Temple.

Mount Abu is also the location of Madhuban which is the headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. The Brahma Kumaris have many large buildings here and many devotees congregate here round the year.

Ambaji mata temple is a major Shakti Peeth of India. It is situated at a distance of approximately 65 kilometers from Palanpur, 45 kilometers from Mount Abu and 20 kilometers from Abu Road near the Gujarat and Rajasthan border.

A large number of devotees visit the temple every year specially on Purnima days. A large mela on Bhadarvi poornima (full moon day) is held. Every Year in July, people come here walking from their native place from all over the country just to worship MAA AMB. The whole of Ambaji is lighted up as the whole nation lights up at the festive time of Diwali. Navratri is celebrated in a grand manner in the temple premises. Programmes and melas are organized and the entire town dons a festive look.
